Week 10 is focused on building fundamentals from the mount or top position. In our fundamentals class we will demonstrate how to defend against. as well as, perform standing headlocks. After we work on the self-defense portion of class, we will work on the mount position and submissions such as a transition from mount to an arm bar.
In our advanced class we will show standing hand and hip throws. After our professors will show a transition from the hand and hip throws to the knee on belly position. This week we will teach several submissions from knee on belly. Our professors will show the advantages and disadvantages of each submission.
In the Gracie Barra Kids program, we are also defending headlocks, the most likely method of confrontation between kids. After headlock defense, we will work our way into mount and knee on belly positions, much like our fundamentals class. This allows friends and family members sharing a household to work on the same moves together. The word of the week is Growth: the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually.
